With every extra inch of aperture, every additional second of observing time, and every added atom of climatic disturbance you remove from your telescope’s field-of-view, the far better, deeper and more plainly you have the ability to see deep space. When the Hubble Space Telescope started procedure in 1990, it ushered in a new era in astronomy: that of space-based astronomy. No longer did we need to fight with the atmosphere; no more did we need to worry about clouds; no more was electromagnetic scintillation an issue.
